[edit] Notes on Native Version
There is a native version of the original version of The Sims, created by none other than TransGaming themselves. They do not currently have the game for sale, but it might be possible to locate it elsewhere online. Note that it was also included with the "Mandrake Linux Gaming Edition". Also note that the original version will not work on current Linux systems - a patch for the game can be gotten at http://www.transgaming.com/webstore_download_update.php.
